SLP SEEDS managed 7+ gardens over the 2019 growing season
Our interns learn and care at these gardens and the produce is delivered to one of our 4 distributions weekly.
3 gardens are used to teach kids at the Park N Rec summer programming. (edible playgrounds) We teach about what plants need, how they grow, how to harvest and how to be adventurous in the things you taste!
2 gardens are food bank gardens provided by the Fire Stations of St. Louis Park. We use these for distributions and additional items for the Garden Fresh Culinary classes.
1 garden is a kitchen garden for the Garden Fresh Culinary program, where our participants learn how to harvest in the garden and bring it straight into the kitchen and learn different ways to prepare their bounty!
1 garden was provided by the Minnesota State Horticulture Society with their program called Garden-in-a-box. This is located at an affordable housing complex where the residents help care for the garden and get to harvest and enjoy from it whenever they want!
We have another training garden where the interns have their weekly classes, and a test garden where we are experimenting with the three sisters garden technique and differences in preparing soil.
Here are some of the photos taken over the summer of the gardens and harvest the interns cared for under the supervision of SLP SEEDS.
